The earth is shaking and I see a light…

Have you heard of Cillo? The versatile Dublin-based producer creates both original songs and remixes that are cinematic yet soothing; a subtle melancholy is often infused with a quiet strength.

Yellow Light (Cillo Remix) by Of Monsters and Men got a ton of well-deserved hype for taking all of the hokey shit out of the original and leaving us with what turns out to be a brilliant song. His remix of Luke Leighfield & Jose Vanders’ version of Blindsided doesn’t have the gravity of the original, but it’s definitely decent. And at the moment I’m really feeling his Tunng twist, Hustle. It’s almost too saccharine, but it’s just so damn catchy.

I also have to say that his music videos can make or break the experience of each song. In Times of Grief, above, is simple and brilliant. Pace of Life, below, is really cool. (It reminds me I should get the hell out of New York for a bit, one of these days.) Dice, Falling Back and Chapo are all worth watching, if you’re looking for something to do.

.

My sneak attack favorite though is the What You Can’t Have. Just listen. All the way. If you see why I like it, you’re in the right place.
