Kyla La Grange was my favorite musical discovery of 2011. Hands down. I have been putting off writing about her in hopes of doing her justice, but I can’t wait any longer. She writes the kind of music that gives me strength to get through whatever the day brings.
I’ve been watching her evolve for some 18 months now, checking in frequently since I first heard that incredible voice. Since then, each new song and its accompanying video has only been better than the last, culminating in the stunning imagery of Vampire Smile. But today she released the video for my first love, Walk Through Walls, and it’s absolutely brilliant. Aggressive, elegant and so, so visceral, it’s the perfect manifestation of a song that surges up in your chest and electrifies the soul.
Her first album, Ashes, will be released July 30, 2012.
