Oh the night is my world…

Sunday Girl is probably in the same vein as a lot of what you’ll find on stronglikemusic. Taking her name from the 1979 Blondie song, former model Jade Williams offers ethereal vocals over an indie pop sound, and puts out a good cover here and there. Well, actually, mostly covers.

Whatever, this boy knows what he likes.

Her trance-y cover of Love You More (which I thiiiink was originally by Steps?) is good… and while I’m sort of partial to the piano and house beat of the Them Jeans remix, the RAC remix is deservedly getting all the hype. The Diplo remix of Four Floors, much better than the original, has also garnered a lot of attention. Also, checkitout- Villa strikes again with another stompin’ remix of Stop Hey. (I heard them called nu-disco, is that like a thing now?)

My new favorite is Human Love, recorded for the Sun’s Biz Sessions, but (ARGH) I can’t find an mp3 or figure out how to convert the video. Her version of Tender is decent, but mostly gets mentioned because I really love the original Blur song. I got into her take on MGMT’s Time to Pretend for a hot minute, but I think her cover of Laura Branigan’s Self Control* is her best work yet. Dark, brooding, lusty… get down girl, go ‘head get down.

Sunday Girl – Self Control (Laura Branigan cover) (highly recommended)

Sunday Girl – Tender (Blur cover)

Sunday Girl – Time to Pretend (MGMT Cover)

Sunday Girl – Love U More (RAC Remix) (highly recommended)

Sunday Girl – Stop Hey (Villa remix)

*The original is so 80’s and so badass.
