WHEIRD! I had been looking for Tracey Thorn on hype machine lately, and then this week she puts out this awesome XX cover.
Maybe she has ESPN or something?
She has one of my favorite voices ever. And isn’t Five Fathoms such a feel-good video? I remember hearing Grand Canyon one night at Le Pulp in Paris. The party was called Androgyny, the crowd was this perfect pansexual mix (which was pretty awesome, because at the time, if asked to about my sexuality I generally replied ‘disoriented…?’). The music had been mostly rock/electro, but I remember this song coming on and realizing that in this room full of gorgeous Parisians, EVERYONE was dancing. Are there still nights with that kind of energy? If so please let me know cause I’m getting awfully crotchety these days for lack of a good dance party.
